Getting Started

Welcome to Elderfield Beginner Guide

A practical Welcome to Elderfield beginner guide covering your first steps, watering crops, time progression, and what to do next.

Take your time with Elderfield's opening. Start with the farm pond and crops, keep progressing through tasks, and explore the systems that interest you.

Quick start

Welcome to Elderfield includes farming, fishing, cooking, relationships, mysteries, combat, and exploration. Take your first session at your own pace: get familiar with the farm, keep an eye on crops, and work through tasks as they become available.

There is no need to rush the opening. Progress is not tied to finishing everything in a single day.

Refill the Watering Can

Refill the Watering Can at the farm pond to the south. Keep it topped up while you are tending crops.

Harvesting crops

When a crop is mature, press OK while facing it to harvest.

If a crop is not ready when expected, check whether it was watered. A moon event can also slow its growth.

How time and sleep work

A full day/night cycle is about 20 minutes. Sleeping is not required every day, and there is no downside simply because the calendar advances.

Use that flexibility to explore, farm, fish, cook, or follow tasks without trying to speed through the opening.

Do not worry about the Axe yet

The Basic Axe comes later through progression, so you do not need to assume you missed it early on. See the Axe Upgrade Guide for the task-progression overview.

What to explore next

Once you are comfortable with these first steps, choose the activity that interests you most: farming, fishing, cooking, relationships, or tool progression.
